Dear parents, students and families,

This is the second Sunday of Advent when we 'Prepare the Way' for Jesus. This was the words of John the Baptist who saw his mission as preparing for the one who would come. We prepare our hearts a place for Jesus and offer a welcome to him. As life gets busy in the lead up to the social events of Christmas it is very important that we all take some time to ourselves, to be still, to prepare and to welcome the spirit into our lives.

We are still working through class placements as a result of changes in staffing and enrolments. Students will meet their new classes in the final week of school this year.

Final Week

During the final week we have several events that normally would be celebrations for the school community. Due to the restrictions around covid normal we are unable to manage these in 2020. It is important though that school families are aware that these events are on.

Tuesday 15th is the orientation day for students at St Thomas' to spend some time in their class group for 2021. This will happen after lunch. Children will be dismissed from their new class. Therefore if you have changed pick up plans please email your current teacher early on that day to allow the message to be sent to support your child at departure.

Wednesday 16th is the last formal day for classes. Thursday is our 'Prepare the Way' day -  as we move 25 out of 30 classrooms. We will have supervision available for children who require it during normal school hours. Please email principal@cranbourneeast.catholic.edu.au if your children will be in attendance that day.

Wednesday is also the Year 6 Graduation Mass and the Mass of Thanksgiving for retiring Foundation Principal Mr Marrinon. Due to the restrictions we are unable to open this mass to everyone but I hope you can say a prayer of thanks for Mr Marrinon and the wonderful children who are our Year 6 graduates. 

End of Year gifts

We have begun to see cards and candy canes appear already. The staff respectfully ask that students do not bring cards to give out until the last week.
We ask that no treats for Christmas (candy canes, chocolates etc) are brought to give to other children.
