Principal's Message
School Advisory Committee
This evening I meet with a dedicated group of parents who make up our School Advisory Committe (SAC). The SAC plays an important role as a focus group of parents to assist with decision making at the school level. We have a number of vacancies on the Committee and would love to have new people who might be interested in joining the SAC. After this evening's meeting we will send out nomination forms indicating the number of places and roles available.
For your information the purpose of the SAC is to:
- act as an advisory body to the principal on matters concerning education in the
school - act as a forum for discussion on matters concerning education in the school
- provide a link between the parish priest, principal, teachers and parishioners in
relation to the provision of Catholic education in the parish community - promote community development by fostering a strong inter-relationship between
the parish, the primary school and Catholic secondary colleges.
The responsibilites of the SAC include:
- promote the Catholic ethos of the school
- provide feedback on and review of school policies
- plan for the future of the school and its ability to accommodate future enrolments
- promote child safety in the school
Please consider taking up a place on the SAC to be part of the conversations about the school into 2021-22.
As Lent draws closer to Holy Week we remember that this Sunday marks a moment of triumphant arrival. Jesus arrives in Jerusalem in popular acclaim; but those expecting a political leader who would lead an uprising against the Roman invader were to be disappointed. The mission entrusted to Jesus was not to solve the immediate situation of the Jewish people but to offer all humanity hope in salvation.
Often in life we hope that the new person will fix everything that is seen as wrong; the new coach, the new boss, the new leader. As the reality of the situation and the impact of change become apparent we can become disillusioned. Perhaps like the Jewish people we need to remember that sometimes the story is bigger than us and that the change we are undergoing is going to lead to a new experience and journey.
My prayers and blessings for you all as our term comes to a close. I wish you all a happy and holy Easter and a safe and restful holidays.
Kate
