Dear Families,
Attitude
A person who is happy is not because everything is right in his life, He is happy because his attitude towards everything in his life is right.
Sundar Pichai
The above quote is so needed right now. Why is it that people in extreme poverty can still be happy? Why is it that some people who seem to be going through something really tough, keep on smiling? The answer lies in how one perceives the world, through their own lens.
There is a wonderful TED talk from a psychologist by the name of Kelly McGonigal. She speaks specifically about stress in this video, but really, you can just translate this to how I perceive the world. I highly recommend watching this clip to gain some perspective and remind ourselves that happiness is our own responsibility. We can create a happier environment for ourselves simply by the way we think. We can take charge and importantly, show our kids how to take charge of our happiness.
God gave us free will. We can decide to be beaten and allow ourselves to be swamped or we can take the reins and decide there is plenty to be thankful for and look forward to. Not only is it good for us, it happens to be infectious.
