Principal's message
How the weather can change our mood. On Tuesday morning the sun was shining and the wind light. The children smiled as they were dropped off by parents who waved. The children played happily on the yard with each other. This morning I work from home with the rain falling, a cold breeze blowing and it is harder to find that joy I experienced as part of the community on Tuesday.
I find it important to check in with myself to find out why I am feeling happy or down. To acknowledge those things that cause me to feel worried, anxious or just flat. Once I can see what is affecting me I have more power over it and can direct my behaviour accordingly.
I encourage all of you to see remote learning in the same way. If you are finding a day particularly challenging, your child struggling with tasks you know they can do just give yourself a break. Email the class teacher and let them know that for today you are spending time as a family; playing some games, reading some stories, doing some cooking or artwork. This is important time with children. They begin to shape their understanding of the world from the way we manage it.
Be kind to yourselves, know that this time too shall pass and we will soon be in a situation where it is hard to remember this difficult time.
Wishing you all a blessed and peaceful week.
Kate
