This coming Sunday is a huge birthday! Christians around the world refer to Pentecost as the ‘Birthday of the Church’. It’s the day the first followers of Jesus were given a burst of courage to spread the Good News and take the Mission of Jesus to all the world. This is why Pentecost is such a big deal. The Holy Spirit gave the disciples all sorts of gifts to take the message beyond their small community and make it known worldwide. In scripture we see that the disciples were given the ability to speak many languages. This is one of the gifts that enabled them to do this huge task. They became great communicators.
Each year, St Thomas the Apostle makes the strong link between the Pentecost event and the rich multicultural aspect of our school. The link is when we share understanding of our culture we are able to communicate with grace. Very much like our Catholic Education Week theme, “Let the words you speak be full of grace”.
So, we look forward to celebrating Pentecost and our multiculturalism on Monday. Our parade that will display the many cultural outfits will be on the basketball courts at 9am.
All parents are welcome to witness this display, hopefully without any weather interruptions!
Bethlehem Mass
Dear Families,
We celebrated our second school Mass in the new church this week with Bethlehem (Year 3) taking on the theme of ‘Our Lady Help of Christians’. Mary was a pivotal figure in the beginning of Jesus’ Mission and importantly the continuation of Jesus’ mission. She was with the disciples in the Pentecost event, and for this, she is the central theme of the stained-glass window behind the altar.
If you’re ever in the church, have a look at the ripples that extend from the middle of the stained-glass window. Father Denis explained to the Bethlehem community that the artist chose to represent Mary as this set of ripples amongst the tongues of fire because she had such an impact on what occurred for the disciples in that moment.

Dear Families
As part of our ongoing commitment to Child Safety it is important that we continue to verify that all information we hold for your family is up to date. This includes:-
- Parent/Guardian address information
- Parent/Guardian contact information such as mobile numbers, business numbers and email addresses
- Emergency contact information such as up to date contact names and mobile numbers
This is an opportunity to check the information we have at school regarding your child/children as it is extremely important that we can contact someone when your child is unwell, has not been picked up on time and when we need to share information with you. We cannot successfully fulfill our Duty of Care if the information we have is incorrect.
Please verify the information being bought home by your child yesterday, sign the paperwork and return it to school. If there are changes to be made ie emergency contacts have changed, please make the changes on the paperwork, sign and return to school for us to update our records.
Important: Please sign and return the paperwork regardless of whether there are changes or not.

Hi everyone!
My name is Ashdyn (Miss Z as the beautiful students would know me). I am one of the new ESOs here at STAPS.
You can find me working with the wonderful year 5’s in Bethany or in the car park working the crossing before and after school.
I am currently studying primary education at Charles Darwin University and am in my second year there.
I’m so happy to be starting my education journey at STAPS and am excited to see where it will take me.
Thanks,
Ashdyn.
