St Thomas Day Reflection
During the prayer service on our special day, classes brought up questions and wonderings to the altar. This was a symbolic gesture that points to the genuine human need for asking questions to make sense of their world. In scripture, St Thomas showed us that he was needing to know more about Jesus’ resurrection. Similarly, our students showed the importance of wanting to know more about creation, our purpose on earth and other key questions about life.
One example of these questions that were generated in class…
Do we need to have a definitive answer to all the questions we have? Certainly not. Having faith means that there is always a certain amount of mystery and being able to sit with not knowing.
Sacramental Update – First Holy Communion
The parish welcomes the 66 families who have begun the steps toward the sacrament of First Communion. The Parent Formation step, undertaken last night and then again next Wednesday night, is such an important one for our families. The parents had lots of conversation around how to support their child in this important development. The discussion aspect of these evening is key, as learning from each other is so powerful. We are looking forward to seeing the parents of the other half next Wednesday (26th July).
Sacramental Update – Confirmation
Concurrently, we have the students who are celebrating their Confirmation very soon. The Bishop of Sale, Gregory Bennet, will be visiting Cranbourne East on the 29th July to preside over the two ceremonies (11am and 2pm).
