Dear Families
We are at the part of the year where we begin to look at organisation and structures for 2022. Even though lockdowns and open ups keep us on our toes and change daily and weekly it is important to also be thinking long term.
As a staff we are meeting and having conversations about how things are working this year, what is working well and what would be better. It is important to also have parent voice into this space. Unfortunately, our School Advisory Committee has lost a few members and we haven't had much response for invitations to join the Committee. Due to the time it would take for nomination and voting and the uncertainty of the current situation for people's work etc, I would like to propose that we open the current SAC meetings to parents who would like to be part of the conversations for the meetings for the remainder of the year.
Our meetings are held online once or twice a term usually on a Thursday evening (7-8pm) . If you would like to participate please email me and we will send you through the agenda.
Items the school advisory will discuss are: school structure, specialists, staffing, capital improvement plans, managing the build of the church and impact on school. Other items can be suggested for discussion by emailing myself.
I know that these lockdowns have been difficult for many families. Can I please remind anyone having financial challenges to please contact Nicola in the office to seek some support around fee relief. If other support is needed please contact myself or Jen Gulavin as we can help connect you to support services.
I hope you are seeing the tiny, early signs of Spring. It brings joy to see the plants budding, the wattles blooming and the birds seeking nesting sites. Our hearts lift as the days get longer and we feel more positive. I hope you allow yourself those moments of joy and love for the wonderful world we live in. I allow these moments to be times that God speaks into my life and I listen joyfully.
Blessings to you all
Kate
We are pivoting once again, to ensure that our children and parents of the First Communion program are able to go ahead with the Workshops.
All parents who booked in for the 10th August 7pm session, will be rescheduled for the 17th August 7pm session, now online. Parents who booked for the 11th August 7pm session will be rescheduled to the 18th August 7pm session, also online. Sister Julie sent through the Google Meet details to all those who booked. If you have not received these details, please contact the parish.
In other news, the Ephesus community were able to celebrate their Mass on Wednesday this week via a live stream. It was beautiful to see the students read and sing so confidently, even though it took place in so many locations! Father Denis’ final words at the Mass was very heart-warming. He said that even in lockdowns, nothing gets in the way of God’s love for us. So true.

Uniform Reminders
NO HAT, NO PLAY
As we head into spring, and as per our Sun Protection Policy the No Hat, No Play rule will begin from Friday 20th August 2021.
Students will be required to wear hats when outside (e.g recess, play breaks, lunch, sport and excursions). If a child is not wearing a hat they will be required to stay in an undercover area during these times.
Hats can be purchased from PSW located in Hampton Park
NB: We have a number of unnamed items in lost property. Please clearly label your child's items of clothing so they can be returned to your child if handed to lost property.
Parent Notified Absences (PAM)/ Attendance (Remote Learning)
Parents are required to log their child’s absence/ attendance (remote learning) by 9:30 am. This can be done via PAM or alternatively by contacting the school on 5998 9293.
Please note any unexplained absences will be recorded as an absence against your child’s attendance record.
If you are experiencing any problems logging into PAM, please contact the school for assistance.
Illness
Dear Parents
If your child is unwell, has a fever or has been vomiting or have had gastroenteritis, they must stay at home until they are symptom free for 24 hours. If they are not completely symptom free eg: runny nose, cough they will need a medical certificate to confirm they have recovered and are not contagious in order to attend school.
Change of Clothing (Foundation – Junior students)
Accidents happen, from muddy puddles to tummy troubles; there may come a time when your child needs a change of clothes. Please ensure your child has a spare set of clothing in their bags at all times in the event they are needed.
